Sometimes you need to go to the top – and be heard! CCS has recently launched a campaign lobbying the Government to commit to early support for all disabled children and their families. Right now there is a gap in the support provided to disabled children and their families, particularly when a family learns their child has a disability. Providing co-ordinated support as early as possible is critical to giving disabled children and their families the best start to their future. We know families can struggle with identifying what support is available and often only receive it when they are in crisis - and that's too late. We want the government to commit to early support for all disabled children and their families. It's about making sure families get on the track to a rewarding future for themselves and their children as early as possible.
The "Lets get in early" campaign was launched on July 4th with CCS, Plunket, Barnardos, IHC, Parent to Parent, DPA, Ripple Trust and the Parents Centre making direct contact with Ministers, MPs and spokespeople from all major parties. To back up this approach, there is an ongoing nationwide postcard campaign.
